Spanish:

Personally, I love Spanish food, whether I’m eating out or cooking at home. And since we’re in Spain, let’s look at where you can eat like the natives Around Algorfa before we go on our culinary travels.

Meson Algorfa on Avenida Maria de Mar Rodriguez serves typical Spanish food at excellent prices. Try a desayuno (breakfast) of toast with tomato and olive oil, or a brunch time sartenica, which is a small pan, like a paella pan with fried potatoes and various ingredients such as pork, chorizo and sausages, topped with a fried egg. They also have a choice of Menus del Dia, and daily specials.

Café El Badulake in the town square, has an extensive tapas menu and is also a good choice for a Spanish breakfast. It’s a great place for people watching too, and there’s a children’s playground in the square to keep the youngsters happy.

El Chiringuito, is located in a stunning setting inside the Juan Carlos I Municipal Sports Centre, on the road from Algorfa to La Finca, just outside the town proper. Here you can sample quality, home made Spanish food, including a variety of different tapas. And if you book ahead, it’s worth sampling one of El Chirungito’s fabulous paellas. The whole sports centre has been recently refurbished, and there’s a playground for the kids to let off steam while the adults relax.

Restaurante La Ermita on Calle Constitucion in the heart of Algorfa is the place to go for quality Spanish food. A good place to go for a celebration, and they also serve tapas.

If you like Belgian cuisine, you’ll be pleased to know you can find it in La Finca, as well as Algorfa town.

Bar La Plaza in the Plaza de España in Algorfa, is now under new management and serving delicious food, freshly made, and with a Belgian slant. Ideally situated for people watching, near the  fountain and the children’s playground.
