What can you buy in Algorfa? You may be surprised!
For a small town, Algorfa has a great range of shopping experiences. You just need to spend some time exploring the town and its urbanisations, and check out the local area pages and groups on Facebook. For example, on We Love Algorfa, if you were to ask where you can get clothing or curtains altered, you’ll get a selection of answers in no time at all, all local to the area, so you don’t need to travel far. That’s good news on two counts; it boosts local businesses, and it saves money on fuel.
Zoco Market, held every Sunday and located on the edge of Algorfa, between Montebello and Lo Crispin urbanisations, has pretty much everything you want at great prices. And there’s a small street market in Algorfa, close the Vicente Ferrer Cultural Centre, every Wednesday morning. There you can buy toiletries, fruit and vegetables, olives, pickles and canned goods, household stuff and some clothes.
Speaking of clothes, Algorfa has two unique establishments. Back on the Rack dress agency offers a wide range of pre-loved clothing for ladies, gents and children. It’s all great quality at fabulous prices, and you can even sort out your wedding dress and mother of the bride or groom outfit, while you pick up a couple of decent dresses for lunch in the sun or a Spanish evening out. And there’ll be money to spare for a crafty tapas lunch too!
At the other end of the scale, Moda La Finca boutiqueat the commercial centre on La Finca urbanization has a great selection of designer wear. They also hold regular fashion shows during the spring and autumn months and can offer a great personal shopping experience. Worth checking out their bargain rail as well for big reductions on last season’s stock. Moda La Finca is German owned, so the sizing is pretty good for ladies and gentlemen who may get frustrated with small Spanish sizes.
Talking of gentlemen, if you’re in the middle of a bit of DIY and you run out of something vital, there’s no need to go far for your supplies, as there’s a well-stocked fereteria (hardware store) in Algorfa. It’s the blue building, just off the main road from La Finca to Almoradi, half way down the hill. And there’s the ubiquitous Chinese Bazaar on Avenida Maria del Mar Rodriguez as well. No need to trek all the way to Leroy Merlin – unless you need an excuse to skive for an hour or two!
If you want a farmacia (chemist), Algorfa has one to spare. There’s the large one on the main street, and there’s a small one on La Finca Commercial Centre, which is open in the mornings to save the locals having to head into Algorfa for something to cure their hangover. Staff in both farmacias are friendly and knowledgeable, and can advise on remedies for minor ailments and infections, so you don’t need to see the doctor in many cases.
